"Fake News" is a term well known and plenty used in today's age, especially when dealing with politics. Fake news is a problem. News is suppose to be a reliable resource when trying to keep updated on what is going on in the world and around the community, but lately many news sources are giving out false information whether it be because of bias or just ignorance. Solutions for this serious problem are coming out like fact-check outlets like Snopes and Truth or Fiction. This article discusses a different and upcoming solution: Artificial Intelligence. The author of this article, David Cox, shows to be against fake news and its advances due to technology. Cox does however show to be for the technological advances for artificial intelligence that would prevent fake news. The author of the article uses an informative yet casual diction. The author uses an informative and condescending tone. The condescending tone is used when Cox discuses fake news and how technology has aided in its expansion. The informative tone is used when Cox discuses how the future of artificial intelligence can help prevent fake news, even if as this point the technology for it is not fully ready to stop fake news in total. The purpose of this article is to inform the readers of upcoming technology that can help them determine whether or not a source is credible and contains information that is true. The author does a well job at informing because it does not show a large amount of bias because Cox includes the beneficial future of artificial intelligence and the problems that artificial intelligence as of now looks at the style of the language and the topic of the text, but AI can not determine the meaning of a statement. The author does not include an argument in the article because the purpose of the article is to inform the readers where we are at with artificial intelligence that could ultimately effect fake news.
